Who is required to complete SafeSport training?
SafeSport Policy requires training for those that:
Have regular, routine or frequent access to or supervision over youth participants
Are responsible for enforcing child abuse and misconduct policies
Are in managerial or supervisory roles
Are employees or volunteers
This includes, but is not limited to:
Coaches
Referees
Board Members
Team Administrators
At the July meeting, Chris Washburn asked that each local organization choose a person to be SafeSport Coordinator for your organization. Please forward the name and contact information of this individual to Tom Romano at .
Information will be communicated directly to these individuals as to how we will keep track of who is required and who has completed the training within your organization. In addition, information will be sent on how we will document cases in the state of Maine. This information will follow shortly.
SafeSport training is up and running now. Here is the link:
USA HOCKEY SAFE SPORT
It takes only about 90 minutes, and you don’t have to complete it all at once.
However, EFFECTIVE MAY 2014- coaches must complete the training before a roster of the team will be completed.
Please contact Tom Romano at [email protected] with any questions. Thank you.
